Yard Engineer – Midlands

Salary : £28,000–£40,000 | Full-Time, Permanent

We’re looking for a hands‑on Yard Engineer to join a busy team preparing, testing, and repairing generators. This role is mainly yard‑based, with occasional travel to customer sites. You’ll support the Workshop Foreman and ensure our equipment is ready for hire.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare, service, and maintain generators for hire.
  • Carry out repairs on generators at customer sites when needed.
  • Assist with loading and offloading equipment.
  • Drive a forklift truck in the yard as required.
  • Manage generator deliveries and returns, including refueling.
  • Take part in an on‑call rota.
  • Keep work areas and vehicles clean and safe.
  • Follow health & safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience
  • Qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant.
  • OR proven experience servicing diesel generators.
  • Strong fault‑finding and communication skills.
  • Forklift truck license preferred.
