Job summary

A global leader in ship management is seeking a Workshop Technician in Chandler's Ford to assist the Technical Manager with workshop activities including hull aperture blank manufacturing and maintenance tasks. Ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical background and experience in hydraulics. Responsibilities include supporting health and safety compliance, assisting maintenance teams, and ensuring accurate documentation. This role offers the opportunity to work on-site when required and contribute to various maintenance projects, ensuring customer satisfaction in diving operations.

Qualifications

  • High knowledge of workshop tooling and technical units of measurement.
  • Experience in working with mechanical/hydraulic builds and repairs.
  • Proactive and effective team member with good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work within Health, Safety and Quality Management Systems.
  • Conduct operations safely as directed.
  • Support maintenance teams and assist with equipment builds.
  • Ensure accurate updates of load out lists and heads up documents.
  • Complete red tag procedures for defective equipment.
  • Support diving supervisor and ensure diving operations meet customer satisfaction.

Overview

Our client is a global leader in ship management and marine services they are looking for a Workshop Technician to support the Technical Manager in delivering workshop activities such as hull aperture blank manufacturing, new build equipment manufacturing and to complete maintenance tasks to support plant equipment and building facilities. The Workshop Technician should, on occasion, be able to support on-site operations when required to mobilise or fix plant and LSE equipment. It is essential the candidate has a mechanical background with a good understanding/experience of hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work within our clients Health, Safety and Quality Management Systems
  • Conduct all operations safely and as directed by the appointed line manager
  • Provide reasonable support to maintenance teams in the offices when assessed as competent
  • Support blank manufacturing, equipment builds and plant maintenance under the guidance of the appointed line manager
  • Ensure load out lists and heads up documents are accurately updated, providing a key link between operations and maintenance teams
  • Ensure the red tag procedure is completed correctly for defective equipment
  • Support the diving supervisor when required and ensure diving operations are carried out to meet or exceed customer satisfaction
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks to support the business
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrate high knowledge of workshop tooling and understanding of technical units of measurement and mechanical terminology
  • Demonstrate good to high level of knowledge and experience of working with mechanical/hydraulic builds & repair
  • Effective and proactive team member
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills using Microsoft packages
Desirable Qualifications
  • Minimum A-Levels or equivalent academic or vocational qualification in a Science and Engineering subject
  • UK Driving License
