Job description
Workshop Manager – High Quality Stainless Steel Fabricator

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager/Workshop Manager to join our workforce permanently. Candidates should have experience in sheet metal fabrication, including stainless steel, welding, and CNC press and laser cutting machines. Experience with Trumpf and/or Amada machinery and machine programming is a distinct advantage. Demonstrated ability to implement improvements, supervise staff, and adhere to production schedules is essential.

Salaried position with an annual basic salary range of £55K – £65K plus discretionary profit‑related bonus, pension, and 20 days annual leave (rising to 25 with service). Working hours Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Occasionally extra hours may be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and control production workflow to meet dispatch deadlines.
  • Mentor a team of shop floor personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Optimize production processes, interpreting technical drawings and maintaining BOM and stock control.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and key suppliers for timely delivery of materials and components.
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, and upgrading of production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure quality standards across all production areas and develop documentation for processes and quality protocols.
  • Maintain health and safety compliance, conduct safety audits, and arrange training sessions to minimise risks.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of City and Guilds / HND or equivalent technical qualification in sheet metal fabrication production activity.
  • 5+ years of experience in a production engineering management role.
  • Computer‑literate, familiar with Microsoft Office, production planning tools and ERP systems.
  • Reside within a 45‑minute commute of Luton.
