Title: Workday Payroll Consultant (Configuration)

Salary: £100,000 – £130,000

A specialist consultancy working with leading global brands to design and implement modern People & Payroll solutions is expanding rapidly. We’re seeking experienced professionals who want to help reinvent how multinational payroll functions deliver value across process, technology, compliance, and user experience.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Workday Payroll Implementation Consultant with extensive hands‑on experience delivering Workday Payroll in both the UK and US. You’ll take ownership of complex payroll transformation programmes, providing expert guidance throughout the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery and solution design through deployment, go‑live, and post‑launch optimisation.

You should be comfortable advising senior stakeholders, capable of operating as both a consultant and an integrated part of the client team, and have a proven track record of multiple Workday Payroll implementations.

Key Responsibilities
Workday Payroll Delivery
  • Lead UK and US Workday Payroll implementations across design, configuration, testing, deployment, and ongoing support
  • Serve as payroll subject‑matter expert within cross‑functional project teams
  • Provide guidance on payroll best practices, compliance requirements, and global design standards
  • Contribute to payroll operating model design and governance definition
  • Drive optimisation and harmonisation of pay elements
  • Shape integration strategies (PECI, PICOF, custom interfaces)
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency
  • Support test planning, parallel runs, data validation, and knowledge transfer
Client Advisory
  • Operate as an extension of the client team to enable programme success
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, documentation, and policy evaluation
  • Support testing activities including script creation, execution, and issue resolution
  • Lead parallel runs, variance management, and root‑cause analysis
  • Input into cutover planning and readiness activities
  • Train payroll teams and assist with go‑live and hyper‑care support
Ideal Profile
  • Strong knowledge of Workday Payroll configuration, integrations (PECI, PICOF), and reporting
  • Multiple end‑to‑end Workday Payroll implementations across both the UK and US
  • Background in payroll consulting or large‑scale transformation programmes
  • Comfortable engaging senior HR, Finance, and Technology stakeholders
  • Experience as a Payroll Manager or senior SME within a global organisation
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with detailed operational execution
  • Excellent communicator and problem solver
  • Expert understanding of UK and US payroll compliance and legislation
  • Experience with Irish payroll is an advantage
