A healthcare institution in the UK is seeking two Support Medical Secretaries to assist in providing support to the Women's and Children's Medical Secretaries. The roles involve producing clinical correspondence and responding to inquiries from patients. Ideal candidates should possess excellent audio typing skills, RSA level 3 or equivalent, and have a reliable, flexible work ethic. An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Support Medical Secretaries to provide a valuable support service to our Women and Children's Medical Secretaries at The Princess Royal Hospital. There are three Band 3 posts and the successful candidates will be working 22.5 or 28.5 or 20 hours per week.
You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, and reliability and have an organised approach to work. Working alongside other Medical Secretaries, the post would provide an excellent opportunity for development and progression for motivated candidates.
You will hold RSA level 3 or equivalent and you must possess excellent audio typing skills. Educated to GSCE level or equivalent. Experience within a medical environment is desirable but is not essential.
The post holder will produce accurate clinical and general correspondence, regularly using complex and sensitive medical terminology from audio transcription. You will also be required to respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, responding appropriately to contentious, sensitive and difficult enquiries. The successful applicant will gain valuable experience within a busy Medical Secretaries office and will provide an excellent opportunity for development and progression for a motivated candidate.
The successful applicants will join a busy team currently comprising of Higher Level Medical Secretaries and Support Medical Secretaries. The post holder is a pivotal person in the patient’s relationship with the hospital, the clinical team and the Consultants. The team support each other to organise the workload of the Consultants within the department and ensure that an efficient service is provided.
