Qualifications

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Weighbridge / Quarry Operative to join our quarrying team. In this hands‑on role, you will support the safe and efficient extraction, processing, and handling of aggregates and construction materials. Responsibilities include operating heavy plant and quarry equipment, assisting with loading and transportation, performing basic maintenance, and ensuring compliance with strict health, safety, and environmental procedures.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, machinery operation, and working as part of a busy team in a dynamic quarry environment. Attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive approach to safety are key to succeeding in this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate quarry plant and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with the extraction, processing, and handling of aggregates.
  • Weigh, record, and process materials on the weighbridge accurately.
  • Carry out routine inspections and basic maintenance on plant and machinery.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production targets.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
  • Competence in operating plant or machinery (e.g. loading shovel, excavator, dumper truck) – CPCS or MPQC card advantageous
  • Understanding of health and safety practices and willingness to follow procedures
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Safety-focused with a responsible attitude
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Reliable, punctual, and self‑motivated
  • Flexible and able to adapt to different tasks and shift patterns
Desirable
  • Previous experience in quarrying, construction, mining, or similar heavy industry
  • MPQC or NVQ Level 2 in Extractives Operations
  • First Aid or health & safety training (e.g. IOSH Working Safely)
