Weighbridge & Mobile Plant Operator

  • Carlisle Sawmill, Cargo CA6 4BA
  • Rotating Shift Pattern (6am-2pm/2pm-10pm, 40 hours per Week)
  • Full-Time / Permanent

Based in Carlise and reporting to our Yard/Despatch Co-ordinator, you’ll play an inclusive role in site security and traffic management and will liaise with drivers and site management team to ensure that the correct loads are received from supply contracts on time. You will also be responsible for a variety of duties across sawn timber yard, both as a team and individually.

Responsibilities
  • Operation of the weighbridge: booking in/out sawn goods, as well as controlling incoming site traffic movements.
  • Collating and reporting data pertaining to the receipt and despatch of raw materials and finished goods, coming on and off the Cargo site.
  • Checking and confirming FSC status of raw materials being delivered to site, ensuring that sustainability standards are maintained.
  • Directing hauliers to follow the correct traffic routes around the site and liaising with teams across the site to ensure smooth traffic management.
  • Ensuring all associated paperwork is processed accurately.
  • Movement of sawn timber to stock locations around the site.
  • Operation of a Side Loader & other mobile plant vehicles.
  • Scanning timber packs to determine stock positions.
  • Unloading of sawn timber wagons.
About you

We’re seeking a highly attentive and organised individual, preferably with prior experience operating weighbridge(s), or a fast-paced administration role. In addition, you’ll have:

  • Excellent IT Skills.
  • A high-level of communication skills, allowing you to effectively interact with drivers, suppliers, managers, and staff at all levels.
  • High degree of numeracy and literacy skills.
  • A committed, motivated, and enthusiastic approach.
  • Willingness to undertake all relevant training required to fulfill the role.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
