Role purpose

We\'re looking for someone who is passionate about content; and understands the important role it plays in the user experience. You\'ll be responsible for planning, creating, organising and publishing content across the SunLife.co.uk website. Your role would be to ensure the site\'s content is accurate, engaging, aligned with brand strategy for both the user and the search engines. You\'ll embrace user research, working with your colleagues to validate the language of our content with real customers and potential users. This way you\'ll help ensure our site is understandable for all users as well as meeting compliance and internal best practice guidance. You\'ll use our analytical tools ContentSquare and Usertesting.com to make our content the best it can be.

Key accountabilities
  • You\'ll manage and support a Web Content Editor; who\'s role is creating and publishing SunLife.co.uk web pages through our Optimizely Content Management System
  • You\'ll own the onsite content on the website ensuring all content is optimised and monitored to drive SEO traffic, links and sales
  • You\'ll design, create and lead all onsite content covering many topical interests that attracts high levels of traffic and builds trust and credibility
  • You\'ll work closely with our content team, providing them with keyword recommendations and reviewing content to ensure it\'s optimised for SEO
  • You\'ll work closely with the marketing team to execute our campaigns with a focus on helping the team meet deadlines, deliver a successful implementation and help lead retros to ensure the next campaign is even better
  • Responsible for managing expiring pages, updating and coordinating the pages so all pages are compliant and accurate
  • Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of existing content pages through user research, tool analysis incl. ContentSquare and GA4, and working with our optimisation design colleagues to drive improvements
  • Responsible for optimising the effectiveness of the SunLife.co.uk information architecture; with efficient journeys and understandable labelling, to key content
  • Responsible for conducing content audits to ensure SunLife.co.uk has the optimum number of pages; pages that contain desirable, excellent content that our visitors wish to read
  • Responsible for the consistency of our language, communications across all of our content; from web, email through to letters
  • You\'ll work closely with the copywriters to ensure the language we use is understandable, short and precise, and contains SEO keywords
  • Responsible for our pages following SEO best practice; including appropriate heading hierarchy, no broken page links and no duplication
  • You\'ll be able to translate issues and opportunities into clear and actionable briefs for our development and design teams, with the support of in-house colleagues and our external partners
  • You\'ll passionately champion accessibility of our content; and validate and make improvements to meet Google\'s search criteria of Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness
  • You\'ll manage external agency relationships where applicable and work with Head of Digital & Experience to secure funding if services are right for SunLife.
  • Accountable for the output from our SEO partner, who will be managing the SunLife.co.uk SEO roadmap, technical hygiene checks and performance reports

Skills and experience required
  • Proven experience in optimising web page performance through user centred research
  • Proven experience optimising information architecture with a focus on user journeys, page structure and language
  • Proven experience of managing content on a website; with a focus on understanding content status and relevance
  • Ability to create artefacts such as sitemaps, content hierarchy diagrams and journey maps to demonstrate how content can be made easier to find and understand
  • Understanding of the accessibility guidelines (WCAG)
  • Desirable to have CMS knowledge; ideally Optimizely CMS
  • Ability to manage a working relationship with an agency, getting the most out of their skills, experience and resource
  • A passion for digital, with a good understanding of industry trends within search marketing
  • Experience co-ordinating and liaising with different departments and stakeholders
  • Understanding of SEO
