Overview

About the Role: One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced Waste Depot Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Waste Management site at Darby Close. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the smooth, compliant, and efficient running of depot activities related to refuse collection, recycling, and waste management services.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the depot, ensuring health & safety compliance at all times.
  • Supervise and support operational teams to deliver high-quality waste collection and recycling services.
  • Liaise with senior management, contractors, and service users to ensure service standards are met.
  • Monitor resource allocation, rota planning, and vehicle availability.
  • Ensure all operational targets and KPIs are achieved or exceeded.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints, incidents, and service disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate reports, schedules, and performance data.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing a waste depot or similar operational facility.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems proactively.
  • A valid UK driving licence is essential.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH qualification is desirable.
