Overview

The post holder will have management responsibility for the department over the 24hr period, ensuring a high standard of nursing care. Key responsibilities will include the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, effective leadership and staff management/development. The post holder will always work within the NMC's Code of Professional Conduct. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the management team as Ward Manager for the Critical Care Department at the Royal site at Liverpool University Hospitals. We are a busy, 33 bedded mixed critical care unit which includes level 2, 3 and elective post-operative patients. You will join the current management team within Critical Care and be a role model to our team and lead the development of staff within our unit. You will lead, provide and supervise a very high standard of compassionate care to our patients, whilst being accountable for staffing issues and managing a very large team. You will support the safety and quality agenda of patient care and staff management, ensuring that the values and objectives of the Trust are met; whilst improving patient outcomes. Furthermore, you will support the journey of the patient from admission to discharge, identify risk and formulate actions to reduce this risk and ensure patient throughput is effective. You will support the Matron, Consultants and the Multi Disciplinary Team and deputise for seniors in their absence.
