Job description
Overview

To act as a host and receptionist ensuring that patients, relatives and visitors receive a friendly and efficient service whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. To support the ward by performing various clerical and non-nursing duties to a high standard. All administration work for the ward will be completed by the post holder. To communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals across the Trust and actively contribute to a culture of positivity and fairness.

Responsibilities
  • Perform reception desk duties, dealing with patient enquiries, directing patients to waiting areas/beds and ensuring effective communication at all times.
  • Answering the telephone and taking messages.
  • Report to the ward manager items for repair and liaises with the works department by following agreed procedures.
  • Arranging Day Case, Ward Attender and booked admissions work as agreed with the Ward Manager.
  • Monitor Ward activity.
  • Ordering ambulances and making out-patient appointments as and when required.
  • Liaise with other departments and disciplines.
  • Ensure reports and referral letters are escalated to the appropriate people/department within timescales.
