Job description

The Planning and Impact team is at the heart of News Content and drives the planning, delivery and production of stories across the UK. The team is made up of multimedia journalists supplementing UK story teams. As a Video Journalist, you'll play a key role in the production of major editorial projects with a focus on digital output aimed at younger audiences for social, online, vertical video, YouTube and streaming platforms.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact
  • Routinely self‑shoot and edit video content for a range of platforms.
  • Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
  • Liaise closely with other team members and departments to ensure that output material is shared, duplication is avoided, and best practice is upheld.
  • Use different treatments for different audiences to reflect the people we serve.
  • Deliver to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Ability to gather and prepare video and audio material for use on any platform.
  • Interest in and knowledge of stories relating to Learning and Identity with a focus on digital output aimed at younger audiences.
  • Significant experience as a journalist, with a good knowledge of production techniques.
  • Sound editorial and policy decisions.
  • Ability to work and deal with daily and long‑term editorial demands.
