Job description

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team of veterinary surgeons for maternity cover.

Join a place to excel

Mainstone Vets strives to provide the best personalised care for its clients and their patients. We are a growing practice with deep roots within the local community of Romsey. We continually invest in and improve our facilities to care for our patients and support our staff. We pride ourselves on our personal approach to cases and our transparent communication about treatment options. Our location in the beautiful Broadlands Estate provides easy access via the M27.

Are you seeking the freedom to utilise your skills in a friendly, supportive environment? We encourage new ideas and progressive treatments to ensure we deliver excellent care. Candidates sharing this philosophy are highly valued.

We have invested heavily in patient monitoring and care, including multiparameter monitors in dental and surgical areas, doppler blood pressure monitors, syringe drivers, multiple infusion pumps, in-house laboratory equipment, a floating table for X-rays, a dental suite with dental X-ray, and a silver cat-friendly status with dedicated cat-only clinic times.

This is a part-time position, working 30 hours per week, including 1:5 Saturdays and one to two evenings per week, with shifts ending at 7:00 PM.

Our supportive team

Our stable team fosters great camaraderie and mutual support. Regular vet and team meetings provide opportunities to discuss cases, concerns, or new developments. We enjoy a lovely garden for summer lunch breaks. We also engage actively with our community through events like Dogstival, the New Forest Show, Romsey Show, open days, and school talks.

What you will bring

We welcome applications from Veterinary Surgeons, preferably with experience, though willingness to support during sole charge Saturdays is valued. Motivation and a positive, progressive attitude are essential. Excellent communication skills are critical, as client interaction and team collaboration are core to our practice.

If you are a motivated vet who loves providing high-quality care in a supportive environment and enjoys a good laugh, we would love to hear from you.

Because our people matter

We recognize that our team is fundamental to our success. We invest in our people, premises, and processes. Benefits include:

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave
  • Additional holiday entitlement for your birthday

Wellbeing
