A Veterinary practice in England seeks a Veterinary Surgeon who can adapt to a surgical or consult-only role within a supportive team. This position offers flexibility with working hours and significant professional development opportunities. The practice is known for its commitment to work-life balance and offers generous benefits, including a £5,000 welcome bonus and up to £70,000 salary, depending on experience. Ideal for candidates looking to advance in a robust clinical environment.
An opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our long-standing team at Martin and Carr Vets. We can mould the opportunity we have to suit you - whether you want a surgical caseload or consult only we can explore both options. If surgery is your preference, we can offer one day of surgeries per week and you can fully work up your cases. If you prefer consults, we can offer a consult only role. Professional and personal development is at the centre of our practice, that’s why we offer you the support you need to succeed. We share knowledge, build your confidence, and encourage clinical freedom - there are no career boundaries. Essentially, you tell us what you’re after and we’ll do our best to accommodate. We’re offering up to £5,000 (pro rata) welcome bonus, as well as up to £5,000 for relocation support.
Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work‑life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Whether you need reduced working days/hours for hobbies, need to do the school drop off/pick up or would simply like a more flexible rota pattern, we can fix or flex our patterns to suit you – you tell us what you need. Typically, full time hours will consist of working 4 days a week between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm. We switch the phones over to Vets Now so remote phone cover is required by the duty vet for just 1 hour, with a Registered Veterinary Nurse on site until 7 pm. Weekends are 1:4 Saturdays, carrying out consults between 9 am and 1 pm when Vets Now take over.
Our highly dedicated team consists of 9 experienced Veterinary Surgeons and 1 2nd year graduate who are supported by an excellent team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Trainee Nurses, and our fantastic Support team. Our talented Vet team include an RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in general small animal surgery, certificate holders in small animal medicine and endoscopy, a Vet who practices acupuncture and has a keen interest in animal behaviour and a Vet with a PHD in nematodes. Our Head Nurse has a CertVN ECC alongside certificates in analgesia and anaesthesia. Regardless of where you are in your career, our dedicated and resourceful team will provide all the support and development you need and want.
“I’ve always had a keen interest in surgery so after qualifying as an RVN in 2019, I left Martin and Carr to work as a surgical nurse in a large referral clinic. I soon realised that what I’d left behind was a progressive practice that were keen to teach and encourage. I returned in 2020 where I went on to achieve a Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency & Critical Care (CertVNECC) and a certificate in analgesia and anaesthesia. The staff at Martin and Carr are supportive and caring” – Amy Deakin, Head Nurse
As a Tier 2 RCVS accredited surgery we have a variety of advanced diagnostic facilities including digital radiography, ultrasonography, and endoscopy. Our onsite laboratory means most blood samples can be analysed the same day. We are located in Pershore, on the edge of the Cotswolds, with great attractions such as Pershore Abbey and Confetti Flower Field. Excellent transport links mean we are only 40 minutes away from both Bristol and Birmingham and an hour and a half away from London.
