A multi-disciplinary survey company operating in the UK is seeking experienced Utility Surveyors. You will be responsible for conducting utility detection surveys and ensuring high-quality outputs while working independently or as part of a team. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience and an understanding of PAS 128, strong communication skills, and a full clean driving license. SUMO Services Ltd is a multi-disciplinary survey company operating from 6 different offices throughout the UK. With survey teams strategically placed across the country. We’re on the look out for experienced Utility Surveyors to come and join our growing team. The ideal candidates will be based around the Home Counties.
The Utility Detection Surveyor will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of a utility detection survey, from site detection to providing written reports and checking deliverables.
Knowledge of PAS 128 is essential and you must be able to demonstrate experience of using both Electromagnetic location and GPR on a range of sites of various scale and complexity, independently and as part of a team.
Health & Safety and Customer Service are key elements of the role. You will need to be able to conduct and complete dynamic risk assessments when on sites, communicating any safety issues to the survey team, client, other stakeholders and management in a professional manner. As such, excellent communication skills are essential for the role. You will require a flexible approach to working hours and be able to travel to the survey locations to meet the client’s requirements. Overtime, night and weekend working will form part of this role.
As a Remote Utility surveyor you will need to work without direct day-to-day supervision and make technical decisions for the projects assigned to you within the specified limits of your authority. Provide guidance and direction to further team members on large and complex survey projects and contribute effectively to ensure the smooth running of projects with minimal supervision. Ensuring agreed goals, survey outputs, reports and consistency are kept to the highest standards. Training and mentoring junior staff members to develop younger members of staff in their progression in their careers.
Ensuring the vehicle and survey equipment supplied to you is maintained in good working order and in accordance with manufacturers and company policies, is an essential part of this role, co-ordinated with the Operations Manager.
