Overview

For our Events Team in London, we are looking to hire an: Industrial Placement Student - starting Aug/Sept 2026 - June 2027.

The Events team at Berenberg oversees a busy calendar of events across Europe, covering a range of formats from networking dinners to large conferences. The team runs flagship conferences at Pennyhill Park, The Grove, New York and Munich's Oktoberfest, and this placement student would gain exposure to these events. The placement provides exposure to the world of corporate events and helps develop attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills required to excel in an events career. The tasks will be varied, including administrative and strategic work, all highly valued by the team. Travel to events will be required, and the student should be willing to put in extra effort during peak periods to support event execution. The team also runs internal events for colleagues, such as quizzes, speaker presentations, charity fundraising for the Berenberg Kids foundation, and the Christmas Party.

Responsibilities
  • Liaising with companies attending conferences – serving as their main point of contact and organising logistics
  • Managing and processing all expenses from the corporate account and arranging timely payment of invoices
  • Booking all travel arrangements for the team and coordinating team meetings
  • Attending major conferences (travel required) and other smaller conferences as needed
  • Supporting in pre-event planning, including sorting badges, printing and preparing documentation, and conference setup
  • Assisting with meeting turnaround as required; supporting on the registration desk
  • Overseeing conference-related stock, including packing and unpacking boxes with supplies
  • Running and/or assisting with internal and charity events
  • Student currently studying for an Events Management / Events-related degree
  • Excellent MS Office skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent time management and strong organisational skills; self-motivated and comfortable in a fast-moving environment
  • Professional approach with well-presented appearance and excellent communication skills; comfortable liaising with clients and staff at all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure, autonomously or as part of a team
  • Efficient, proactive, enthusiastic and willing to learn
  • Trustworthy and familiar with handling highly confidential information
