Description

The Lead Coach delivers structured, age‑appropriate training sessions and matchday experiences, focusing on our U11 Purple team in the First Division of the Tandridge Youth Football League. The role supports practical sessions, collaborates with existing staff, and contributes positively to the community through our Play Like a Girl and Love The Game programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Attend sessions, events and fixtures as agreed with the FC Programme Lead.
  • Oversee and support assistant coaches delivering parts or whole sessions.
  • Build rapport and trust with players, attendees and young people to ensure continued engagement with Girls United.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, sessional staff and contracted staff within Girls United London.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community groups and partner organisations such as venues.
  • Support the wider team with new ideas, programmes and growth opportunities.
  • Assist with league administration on the day, officiate matches and provide assistance to the team.
Essential and Desirable Qualities and Qualifications
  • Experience working in grassroots football with young women and girls, delivering sessions and fixture programmes.
  • FA Level 2 in Football Coaching (or working towards), plus current Safeguarding Children and First Aid in Football qualifications.
  • Experience with league administration: match cards, player cards and match reports.
  • Experience working with an assistant coach.
  • Strong communication skills; confident speaking and building rapport with players, parents, venues, schools and funders.
  • Excellent organisational skills; able to manage time effectively and complete administration tasks punctually.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fluid, fast‑paced environment, often during unsocial hours including weekends and evenings.

Further Information

Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (training) – Sundays (fixtures) kick‑off between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm.
Up to 5 hours of additional admin per month.

Tuesday – 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm @ Alleyns School, Townley Road SE22 8SU
Wednesday – 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm @ Alleyns School, Townley Road SE22 8SU
Sunday – Griffin Sports Ground, 12 Dulwich Village SE21 7AL (home ground for fixtures)

Must be able to commit to training & match days

Salary

Lead Coach £17.50 p/h (training includes an extra 15 minutes set‑up plus session delivery time). Match days: 2.5 hours at £2.25 p/h for lead coach, £2.25 p/h for assistant coach. Additional 5 hours of admin billed at £13.50 p/h for logged agreed work.
