Job description
Role

Full‑time Permanent Tutor – 16‑24 Study Programme at Coventry Adult Education Service, Southfields Old School. In consultation with the Study Programme Manager, subject tutors and Learning Support Assistants, you will deliver face‑to‑face teaching to groups of ~8–10 learners, many with Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Responsibilities
  • Deliver accredited and non‑accredited qualifications, including Functional Skills Maths and/or English (Entry Level to Level 2) and GCSE Maths and/or English.
  • Teach up to 3 days per week; use remaining 2 days for lesson planning, preparation, marking and learner record keeping.
  • Support young people with additional learning needs and educational or pastoral issues, liaising with colleagues and external agencies as appropriate.
  • Allocate and deliver sessions based on learner records and individual learning plans, as directed by the Study Programme Manager.
  • Assist learners who experience anxiety returning to education, supporting their participation fully in the Study Programme.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant teaching qualification of level 4 (or equivalent) minimum.
  • Functional Skills/GCSE maths and English qualification at Grade C/4 or equivalent.
  • Experience working as a tutor and supporting young people, including those with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures; DBS check required.
  • Right to work in the UK for at least 2 years; no visa sponsorship.
