Job description
Role Overview

Junior Registrar – Emergency Department, London North West University Hospitals (Northwick Park & Ealing Hospital). The post is for a 6–9 month period of junior registrar work with a progression to a departmental leadership role (including night coverage) within a maximum of 12 months. Successful completion offers entry into the CESR training programme subject to selection by the local faculty group. If the candidate does not take a lead role by 18 months, the Trust will support redeployment to another suitable NHS role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly manage patient care within the Emergency Department, including triage, assessment and treatment.
  • li>Participate in Rapid Assessment Triage to streamline the care of patients unlikely to require admission.
  • Provide care in the Clinical Decision Unit and support the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service.
  • Work within a 08:00 to 00:00 shift cycle with consultant presence; cover additional night shifts (Friday to Monday) as required.
  • Collaborate with the nurse co‑ordinator and middle‑grade doctors to ensure efficient department operation during out‑of‑hours periods.
  • Attend an in‑house leadership training programme and develop senior emergency department decision‑making skills.
  • Progress to departmental leadership, including night cover, by the end of 12 months.
Training & Development
p>Participants will receive targeted leadership training and, upon successful completion of the 12‑month period, have the opportunity to enter the CESR training programme.
