Job description

The Treasurer will provide expert knowledge and support on all financial and compliance aspects of Charity accounting, enabling the delivery of the charity’s strategic vision and annual festival. They will liaise on behalf of the Board with the external auditors and may be asked to chair the Finance Committee.

  • Voluntary role (expenses paid for in-person meetings)
  • The Board of Trustees meets four times a year, with additional finance subcommittee meetings and occasional ad hoc meetings (online) as required.
  • Meetings are held in Sheffield, London, and online, with remote options for every meeting.
  • Trustees are also encouraged to attend the festival in Sheffield each June.
Person specifications

A finance professional, preferably a trained accountant, with charity board experience, keen to use their expertise for social good. Previous experience as a Treasurer would be an advantage.

  • A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity
  • A clear communicator with the ability to bring financial information to life for non-finance specialists
  • A team player, willing to guide and collaborate with others, and to devote the necessary time and effort to the role.

More generally, the role of the Trustees is to act as public advocates for the festival locally, nationally and internationally, and to be a source of support in problem-solving and strategic development.
