Job Description
You will support transport planning for an award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Transport Planning consultancy in Portsmouth. They are trusted advisors on a multitude of projects at various stages in their project lifecycle, from appraisal through to construction, across sectors including residential, commercial, and retirement & care. They are an excellent employer for a progressive planner with consultancy experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage small to medium-sized projects, including budget and time management, delegating where appropriate with input from senior colleagues.
- Write and occasionally check Transport Assessments/Statements, Technical Notes, Travel Plans, Access Appraisals, etc.
- Maintain a good understanding of modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip distributions.
- Complete/review planning drawing requirements, such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams, access designs, etc.
- Undertake site visits independently and provide professional opinions to inform scheme development at early project stages.
- Attend project team, client, and Local Highway Authority meetings.
- Help prepare material for and attend Public Consultations.
- Complete proposals for small to medium projects and contribute to larger sites where required.
- Develop good personal and company working relationships with architects, planners, and local highways officers.
Requirements:
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of transport planning experience, ideally exploring membership at a professional organization.
- Working knowledge of relevant design guidance and awareness of local planning policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond efficiently to demands at a high standard.
- Ability to prioritize workload, work effectively as part of a team, and on own initiative.
- Experience with computer-based systems, including Microsoft programmes.
- Experience using AutoCAD, TRICs, and modelling software.
