Overview

Transport Manager / Site Manager – Location: Motherwell

Salary: £39,998 - £43,409 DOE + excellent bonus and benefits

Hours: 40 hour working week, Sunday - Thursday, 8am - 4:30pm

Responsibilities

• Manage a significant transport operation within the Regional Service Centre and lead the transport team as Transport Assistant Site Manager.
• Seek cost savings against budget where appropriate and manage yard activities to achieve high standards in all areas.
• Ensure the traffic operation runs smoothly, accurately and cost effectively 24/7, ensuring that all legal regulations are met and that the company’s ability to carry out its business is not affected.
• Maintain a sound knowledge of Road Transport Regulations and manage activities to ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
• Act as an effective people manager to drive performance by monitoring KPIs and leading by example, including the direct management of a number of Team Managers who in turn manage drivers.
• Report to and deputise for the Regional Service Centre Manager when required; provide management support to the warehouse team.
• Develop positive relationships with other members of the Management team, colleagues and the wider business.

About you

• You will be an experienced Transport Manager or Site Manager within a large corporate distribution or logistics environment and able to demonstrate the ability to manage a large operation in a fast-paced environment.
• You will possess excellent people management skills, with proven ability to manage complex employment issues and challenging situations, in addition to coaching and developing your team.
• The successful candidate must have a sound knowledge of Road Transport Regulations and hold a national CPC licence, ensuring that “O” Licence requirements are adhered to.
• You will have strong experience in managing large Transport teams and have worked in a similar position within a retail and/or distribution environment with a good standard of education.
