Overview
Transport Manager based at the Chorley site, reporting to the Regional Transport Manager. You will have day to day responsibility for the running of the Chorley site and oversight of a remote site (3 Vehicles & drivers) in the Regional TM's absence. A flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of our customer and to deliver an exceptional level of service. Lead the Transport Operation, always demonstrating the XPO core values. Ensure safe, legal compliance and efficient execution of transport operations, delivering SLA's/KPI's.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for driver and fleet legal compliance in accordance with Operator Licensing standards.
- Full responsibility for all operator licence requirements, supported by CPC qualified XPO colleagues.
- Foster an environment that promotes sharing of ideas and best practice, benefiting the network and customer.
- Manage operational costs and identify operational cost trends (e.g., fuel performance, accidents).
- Positively drive the Transport team and operation to deliver projects and operational initiatives.
- Focus on driving positive QHSE engagement and performance within the transport team.
- Ensure all processes and procedures are followed and that we operate a safe and efficient environment.
- Provide leadership and guidance for the Transport team to enable them to meet objectives, encouraging open communication, constructive feedback, and engagement.
- Ensure all ER cases are managed at site level, with the support of the central HR team, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to communicate accurate information in a timely manner at varying levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of Tachomaster, TarkM8 and SAP would be advantageous.
- Experience in building high-performing teams and managing fast-paced transport operations.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate and engage people at all levels.
- Strong knowledge of Road Transport Regulations, Health & Safety, fleet compliance, RTD & WTD directives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good attention to detail.
- Strong decision-making skills, a sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations professionally.
- International and National CPC essential — to be named on Chorley Operator Licence.
- IOSH desirable.
