Job summary

A leading delivery service provider in Greater London is seeking a Transport First Line Manager to join their busy Transport team in Wigan. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, a strong knowledge of Road Transport Regulations, and the ability to coach and develop others. Responsibilities include managing delivery teams, optimizing fleet utilization, and ensuring legal compliance. Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Leader/Supervisor in a transport operation.
  • Possess a good knowledge of Road Transport Regulations.
  • Ensure that O Licence requirements are adhered to.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate your team of skilled service delivery crews.
  • Ensure efficient fleet utilization and cost control.
  • Take the lead for legal compliance and safety.

Working hours : 14 : 00 - 22 : 00

40 hoursper week, on a 5 / 6 Rota

£16.56per hour plus10%shift allowance

Main Responsibilities, reporting to the Transport Manager :

Leading and motivating your team of skilled service delivery crews and Team Leaders, coaching and developing those who need further support.

Efficient fleet utilisation, resource planning and cost control (whilst always ensuring the operation is both practical and compliant).

Taking the lead for legal compliance and safety.

Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency within the Transport function and recommending and implementing changes where needed.

The resourcing, development and management of all colleagues within your team, ensuring our service delivery crews are fully trained in all areas (in particular driver CPC, service delivery standards and product installation).

Making prompt decisions that protect customer service and our delivery schedule, while remaining commercially focused.

Managing on-site resources (colleagues, vehicles and equipment) to ensure we have everything required in the right place at the right time not only to meet, but also flex, to our customers' changing needs.

The Ideal Candidate

With the number of applications expected for this position, we will only be able to proceed with candidates who match our essential requirements stated below :

At least 2 years experience as a Leader / Supervisorwithin a transport operation.

Possess a good knowledge of Road Transport Regulations andhold a national CPC.

Ensure that O Licence requirements are adhered to.

Full UK driving licence.

Demonstrable experience improving transport operations and introducing operational excellence.

Strong people skills

able to influence, coach and develop.

Able to work in an ever-changing environment with the additional pressure to deliver on time every day.
