Transformation Manager, Denton, Manchester, Hybrid Working

gtd healthcare is one of the largest NHS commissioned Primary and Urgent care providers in North West England. Based in Denton, Manchester, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transformation Manager to join our established Transformation Office, an enhanced Programme Management Office (PMO).

gtd healthcare delivers a diverse range of healthcare services across the north-west from a variety of settings including GP practices, urgent care and treatment centres in hospitals and a clinical hub and care coordination centre within our head office.

As a Transformation Manager, you will lead on business development creating new opportunities for the company and tendering for new services. This will involve liaising with colleagues across the organisation to identify opportunities for enhancing existing services and exploring new technologies and solutions to known issues. You will contribute to our business improvement programme that delivers consistent efficiency improvements across the organisation.

This role is vital as we continue to grow our business. Whilst experience of working in a PMO environment is not essential, an understanding of the function is. The successful candidate will have proven experience of delivering transformation across the NHS and healthcare sector.

Main duties of the job
  • Support the Head of Transformation in the development and implementation of changes identified within gtd’s corporate strategy.
  • Deputise for the Head of Transformation when unavailable.
  • Use programme and project management expertise to ensure that gtd’s strategy and vision is delivered in a structured way.
  • Conduct horizon scanning for future developments within the NHS.
  • Take a lead on business development and the tendering process.
  • Liaise with managers, project leads and Heads of Service to scope projects.
  • Maintain high professional standards, provide guidance and leadership to establish, direct and motivate teams.
  • Ensure activities are undertaken in accordance with programme and project plans, identifying exceptions or off‑target activities and initiating corrective action as necessary.
  • Identify and understand project interdependencies and ensure that these are managed.
  • Ensure benefits management plans are in place.
  • Ensure quality management plans are in place and that all project activities include appropriate quality standards.
  • Ensure risk management plans are in place and develop appropriate contingency plans as necessary.
Responsibilities
Strategic Development, Planning and Organising
  • Support the Head of Transformation in the development and implementation of changes identified within gtd’s corporate strategy.

  • Horizon scan for future developments within the NHS.
  • Lead business development and tendering.

  • Report progress to the Head of Transformation and to appropriate Boards and Committees.
  • Ensure activities align with programme plans, identifying exceptions and initiating corrective action.
  • Use good judgement to identify risks and recommend mitigating actions.
  • Identify and manage project interdependencies.
  • Ensure benefits management and realisation plans are in place.
  • Ensure quality management plans are in place.
  • Ensure risk management plans are in place and develop contingency plans.
  • Liaise with the gtd Academy team to ensure effective implementation training strategies.
  • Promote aligning project objectives with organisational values, philosophy, activity and outcomes.
Administrative
  • Support preparation of documentation for project governance groups including Finance & Audit Committee, Operations Committee, gtd healthcare Board, and team meetings.
  • Prepare project briefs, initiation documents, Quality Impact Assessments, Business Cases and other documents required for project approval and mobilisation.
  • Assist with producing project documentation such as workbook, risk register, communications plan and status reports.
Other duties
  • Any other duties agreed with the line manager to meet organisational needs, which may include travel to other sites.
Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
  • Business development and tendering experience.
  • PMO knowledge or experience.
  • Understanding of the healthcare environment.
  • Experience of successful project delivery.
Experience (Desirable)
  • Experience working in a large complex organisation.
  • Generating reports for senior management teams.
Qualifications (Essential)
  • Prince 2 Practitioner or similar professional project management qualification.
  • Degree or relevant healthcare qualification.
