Role description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee QS who will work alongside and support our dynamic Commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone looking to start a career in quantity surveying. You will gain hands‑on experience while working on a variety of projects.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the Managing Quantity Surveyor in preparing, maintaining, and processing financial and project transactions
  • Assist in compiling all required reports and schedules, and perform general commercial administrative tasks, including filing, managing emails, and following up on communications via email and phone
  • Manage and analyse project variations, including any claims for loss and expense
  • Assist with carrying out interim valuations; value completed works and applying for payments
  • Support in providing accurate, real‑time monthly reports (Cost Value Reconciliations) and forecasts for final outcomes
  • Assist with analysis of project costs and preparation of monthly cost reports and commentary for any variance
  • Attend site meetings with clients and contractors as required for initial survey and project development
  • Support the Commercial and Sales team with administrative tasks and other ad‑hoc responsibilities
Ideal Candidate

Whilst we desire the candidate to have previous experience, candidates are expected to have some knowledge of the role of a QS, an analytical mind and an interest in the construction industry. Following recruitment further development training and opportunities will be available. This may include studying towards a degree at university which Toppesfield will sponsor.
