A local hospice organization in Macclesfield is seeking a passionate Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner to deliver exemplary care. The role involves working in both hospice and community settings while pursuing an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. Inpatient Unit and Palliative Advice Centre (PACE) at East Cheshire Hospice.
Due to an exciting expansion of services, the hospice is adding to its well-established team.
We are seeking to recruit an experienced nurse with a passion for delivering exemplary care, to join us in supporting people affected by life-limiting illness in both the hospice and community settings.
The successful candidate will be supported to undertake an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice to facilitate a transition from senior nurse to Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
You will be based in our purpose-built hospice situated one mile from Macclesfield town centre. There is ample free parking available on site.
Our service operates 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. This post will require weekend and evening work with the possibility of occasional rotation onto nights.
Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients with life-limiting illness
Act as a clinical leader, ensuring safe and effective care delivery
Undertake face-to-face assessments and reviews of palliative patients within the hospice and community settings
Offer advice and support to patients, families, and healthcare professionals both in person and over the phone
Coordinate care and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions and decision‑making
Support service development and quality improvement initiatives
Promote evidence-based practice and uphold the highest standards of care
Support the provision of additional hospice services such as blood transfusions and respite care
East Cheshire Hospice is based in Macclesfield and supports patients and families from the High Peak and East Cheshire areas.

This position has beencreated to facilitate the development of a senior palliative nurse to AdvancedNurse Practitioner. This training will include the undertaking of an MSc inAdvanced Clinical Practice, delivered at a university of mutual choosing, withsupport from the hospice.
The successful candidatewill work alongside the existing nursing and medical teams across all hospiceareas, but primarily within the inpatient unit and palliative advice centre(PACE), being supported by our existing ANPs and medical team to developadvanced clinical skills and prescribing capability.
Within PACE, you will besupported in the delivery of expert palliative advice to community patients,coordinating the delivery of high-quality care- mainly via telephone. The rolefocuses on preventing crises through timely intervention and, where urgentsupport is required, delivering face to face assessment, and supportinggeneralist and junior colleagues.
On the inpatient unit, youwill be a senior clinical presence in the hospice, offering leadership,guidance, clinical advice and assistance. Alongside our existing medical team,you will undertake patient reviews and assessments, liaise with family membersand healthcare professionals and complete internal and external referrals.
Alongside colleagues, youwill also take some responsibility for our respite and blood transfusionpatients and support staff in outpatients when they require senior clinicalinput.
Someteaching/mentorship will also be included in this role.
Preventionand management of infection is the responsibility of all members of staff andvolunteers working at East Cheshire Hospice and forms an integral element ofpatient safety programmes. Where control of infection regimes are in force theyare to be always complied with and staff are reminded of the importance ofmaintaining a high standard of personal and environmental hygiene and to followlocal protocols.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£38,682 to £46,580 a yearplus 30% Saturday/Night duty, 60% Sunday enhancement.
