£35K to £70K Basic Salary - Plus Benefits

This is a new and exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK’s leading insurance companies. They will consider candidates from varying levels of experience. So, this could be someone from outside the P&C arena and maybe another product line, or they would consider an experienced senior casualty underwriter, and hence the fluctuation in the salary on offer.

This would be working the Yorkshire/Northeast broker panel/markets working form their city centre Leeds regional office, where some hybrid home working would also be supported.

The role will focus on you becoming an integral part of the team servicing an allocated panel of brokers and maximising conversion/retention rates and profitability within the company’s product guidelines and to develop close, effective relationships with brokers.

What you'll be doing in the role!

  • You'll underwrite UK & I Primary and XOL business profitably within parameters of binders, authority and business plan.
  • Provide reports and statistics as and when required to all stakeholders
  • Issue policy documentation timely and accurately
  • Represent the company at events as and when required
  • Identify cross sell opportunities across the company.
  • Provide an efficient service to brokers queries in accordance with SLA’s
  • Deal with new and renewal business via brokers over Email and face to face interactions

What Skills Can You Bring to The Role

  • Basic knowledge of general insurance (London Market / Lloyd’s and Industry) products, services, and good understanding of underlying legal principles and practices relating to risk within own role capacity
  • Ideally a minimum 3 years’ experience in a Casualty Underwriting Environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Excellent social skills, able to operate with diplomacy, tact and empathy
  • Ability to manage complex and highly confidential information
  • Comfortable working autonomously and across multiple tasks and reporting into different project working teams and staff members

You will also need to demonstrate that you have drive, self-motivation, and determination to achieve results, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus. In addition, you will need to be a team player but also be able to work under your own initiative. ACII or progression towards this would be an advantage.
