This permanent role involves setting up and operating welding equipment to join aerospace components in a cleanroom environment. Ideal candidates will have proven experience in TIG and orbital welding, particularly in aerospace or pharmaceutical industries, with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail. A leading UK-based space and propulsion technology business is experiencing strong growth and increasing demand for their products and expertise and are looking to expand their Manufacturing team with a skilled TIG Welder.

This role involves working in a cleanroom environment, setting up, programming, and operating orbital TIG welding equipment to join aerospace components as part of their systems welding team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to pioneering space missions and cutting‑edge technologies, supporting the future of space exploration in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Job Description
  • Set up, program, and operate orbital TIG welding equipment to join aerospace fluidic components.
  • Weld stainless steel and titanium, ensuring correct preparation and handling for high‑integrity welds.
  • Carry out in‑process and post‑weld inspections, including visual, dimensional, and leak testing.
  • Work to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality and safety requirements, maintaining accurate records.
  • Operate within a Class 8 cleanroom, following strict contamination control protocols.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Contribute to safety and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap and improve efficiency.
Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications
  • Proven experience in TIG and/or orbital welding, ideally within the aerospace, or pharmaceutical industries due to similar high‑purity requirements.
  • Attention to detail, high standards for quality, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet demanding production targets.
  • A good level of understanding of the space propulsion products from a technical perspective.
