Tenancy Engagement Coordinator

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Tenancy Engagement Coordinator to support vulnerable residents in sustaining their tenancies and financial wellbeing.

Position: Tenancy Engagement Coordinator

Salary: Scale 17–22 (dependent on experience)

Location: Southend-on-Sea

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As Tenancy Engagement Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in helping residents at risk of homelessness maintain their accommodation and achieve financial stability. Working within the Housing Income team, you’ll provide tailored support to individuals experiencing rent and service charge arrears, empowering them to manage their finances and avoid eviction.

Your key responsibilities will include :
  • Monitoring rent and service charge accounts to identify early signs of arrears
  • Engaging residents to develop personalised repayment plans and access welfare benefits
  • Delivering one-to-one support sessions focused on budgeting and tenancy sustainment
  • Liaising with finance teams and posting payments to ensure accurate account records
  • Maintaining case notes and producing monthly arrears reports
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external agencies to provide trauma-informed support
  • Promoting tenant understanding of rights and responsibilities
  • This is a varied role combining office-based administration with frontline engagement across supported housing services.
About You
  • You’ll be passionate about making a difference in the lives of people affected by homelessness.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, including rough sleepers
  • Knowledge of rent arrears management and welfare benefits such as Universal Credit and Housing Benefit
  • A person-centred, trauma-informed approach to support
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with residents
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and de‑escalating conflict
  • IT proficiency, including case management systems and spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload
  • Desirable qualities include experience in housing or income recovery roles, familiarity with housing legislation, and knowledge of supported accommodation environments.
