A UK-based educational institution is seeking an Art & Design Technician to provide essential technical support to students and staff in the School of Arts. The role involves maintaining a safe working environment, preparing equipment, and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations. Applicants should have a relevant qualification and previous experience in the vocational area. Successful candidates must undergo mandatory pre-employment checks including an Enhanced DBS check.
This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.
In order to comply with our mandatory pre‑employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department.
This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £14,095.8 per annum.
Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College). The role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

Technicians provide a high standard of technical and learning support in order to maintain a well prepared and realistic working environment. This role will be essential to the effective delivery of study programmes to young people and qualifications to adults.
The Technician will be required to support sessions in a range of Art & Design subject areas, and will need sound knowledge of a range of art based disciplines. It would be desirable for an applicant to have a specific skill set in either jewellery, glass or plaster; however the art, design and craft technician will be deployed across a wide range of course areas in the School of Arts and part of a wider Arts team; some of which are assigned to specialist areas. In addition, technicians may be required to deliver sessions on Health and Safety and safe working practices as well as sessions aimed to support learners in exhibiting and presenting their work. We would expect the technician to undertake First Aid training as part of their role and remain a designated First Aider within the department.
For the successful candidate a conditional offer of work will be made. Our offer of work will be conditional upon a number of mandatory pre‑employment checks, to include but not limited to: DBS, Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, TRA check (academic posts).
