Job description
Department

The Technical Support Engineer (Electrical) role is a fantastic opportunity to develop your existing knowledge and skills at the University of York, based within our Estates Operations team. Working closely with a team of electrical engineers the role is responsible for building management, technical guidance and standards compliance across the electrical assets of the University Estate.

About the Role

The Technical Support Engineer role provides technical support across the estate and advisory service to in-house staff and departments in normal, abnormal and emergency situations.

Electrical assets include a wide range of simple to complex infrastructure, networks and equipment including:

  • Low and High Voltage Electrical Distribution Network
  • Generator and Business Continuity Support
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Permit authorisation and Safe Systems of work.
  • Responsibilities under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Fire Refuge/ DDA alarms
  • Lightning & Surge Protection
  • (EMC) ElectroMagnetic Compatibility

The role will advise and deliver on best practice in maintaining and improving the University’s energy and utility assets, ensuring safety is maintained at all times whilst providing best practice, effective and value-added systems of work.
