The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree and proven experience in technical management within the sector. This is a full-time, initial 3-month fixed-term contract position.

Job description

Brightwork are seeking an experienced Technical/Quality Manager to lead food safety, quality, and technical compliance within a fast-paced UK food manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, initial 3 month FTC position.

The Role

You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of product safety, legality, and quality across the business, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with BRCGS, HACCP, SALSA, and customer standards
  • Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring timely close-out of non-conformances
  • Ensure full compliance with UK & EU food legislation and customer codes of practice
  • Manage HACCP plans, risk assessments, and food safety controls
  • Maintain and approve raw material, packaging, and finished product specifications
  • Manage customer complaints and technical investigations, driving corrective actions
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Technical Services team
  • Deliver food safety and quality training across the site
  • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis and cross-functional collaboration
About You
  • Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong background in technical or quality management within the food manufacturing industry
  • Proven experience with BRCGS audits and retailer standards
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, legality, and quality systems
  • Confident leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-focused, proactive, and able to influence at all levels
