Job summary

A leading technology and defence company in the UK is seeking an experienced Technical Author for a 12-month contract in Stevenage. This hybrid role involves producing technical documentation following MOD standards, including S1000D. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of SGML and XML, and the ability to communicate with engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a growing company focused on development and talent advancement.

Qualifications

  • Experienced in the production of technical documentation.
  • Detailed knowledge of MOD publication standards ASD S1000D and AESP.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with ILS Managers and Design Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical documentation in SGML, XML, and traditional formats.
  • Enable safe and effective operation and repair of the equipment.
  • Cover the whole product lifecycle through design, development, and in-service support.

Technical Author

12 month contract

Based in Stevenage - Hybrid working

Offering £43ph Inside IR35

Are you an experienced Technical Author? Do you have S1000D experience? Do you want to work with an industry-leading company? If your answer to these is yes, then this could be the role for you!

As the Technical Author, you will be working alongside a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. They are always looking to bring on new talents such as yourself and further develop your skills to enable you to grow within the company and industry.

Responsibilities
  • Write technical documentation in Standard Generalised Mark-up Language (SGML), Extensible Mark-up Language (XML), and traditional formats
  • Enabling safe and effective operation and repair of the equipment.
  • Covers the whole product lifecycle through design, development, and in-service support.
Qualifications / Skillset
  • Experienced in the production of technical documentation with a detailed knowledge of MOD publication standards ASD S1000D and AESP
  • Knowledge of SGML editing software (Arbortext Epic), Common Source Data Bases (CSDB for S1000D), and Desktop Publishing systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with ILS Managers and Design Engineers
  • Writing ability for new, complex, and original work
  • Use of Simplified Technical English (STE)
