Job summary

A leading engineering solutions provider in Kettering seeks a Technical Author to produce and update technical documentation for bespoke systems. You will work closely with engineers to create manuals and illustrations. Candidates should have a strong mechanical background and experience in technical writing. This role offers flexibility with home-working options and is outside IR35, paying £40-£45 per hour.

Technical Author - Bespoke Engineering Systems

Location: Kettering (some home-working flexibility available)

Contract: 6 Months - Mon-Fri, Full Time

Outside IR35 - £40-£45 per hour

About the role

ATA Recruitment are working with a leading engineering solutions provider who require a Technical Author to create and modernise technical documentation for their bespoke systems.

Responsibilities
  • Produce comprehensive manuals covering operation, maintenance, spare parts, and system usage.
  • Work closely with engineers to understand system operation and components.
  • Create clear illustrations, technical breakdowns, and component drawings (SolidWorks experience beneficial).
  • Document conveyors, hydraulic lifting systems, belt/chain conveyors, and other mechanical systems.
  • Update and improve outdated manuals for multiple machines.
You Will Need
  • Strong mechanical/engineering background (mechanically biased).
  • Understanding of hydraulics and conveyor systems.
  • Experience producing technical documentation or manuals.
  • Ability to work on-site in Kettering (with some flexibility after initial familiarisation).
