Job Summary

MTS Health Limited is seeking a motivated and reliable Technical Assistant to join our on‑site team at University Hospital Southampton. This role supports the bed maintenance service, ensuring that all hospital beds and associated equipment are safe, clean, and ready for use – directly contributing to patient comfort and care.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Daily corridor walk of entire trust to collect service beds.
  • Clean collected service beds and prepare them for engineers to service or repair.
  • Ward walks of the entire trust to search for service beds, place tags on beds, and then communicate with ward staff for the return of devices to the bed store.
  • Assist engineers with workload if required, including checking over equipment in service and supporting quick redistribution of devices.
  • Support technicians with planned and corrective maintenance tasks on hospital beds and related equipment (training provided).
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, Manual Handling and infection prevention regulations.
Qualifications & Desired Skills
  • Organised, proactive and willing to learn new technical skills.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a busy team.
  • Committed to quality, safety and excellent service delivery.
  • A good communicator with a positive, customer‑focused attitude.
  • Comfortable with physical activity such as moving and handling hospital equipment (training provided).
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).
  • No prior technical experience required – full training will be provided by MTS Health.
