Technical Architect

Location: Leeds

Salary: £38-45,000 DOE

A forward-thinking architectural studio is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Architect to join its growing team. The role is suited to someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys the challenge of complex construction projects, and is passionate about translating design intent into technically sound, buildable solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with design teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver high-quality projects through RIBA Stages 3-5. With a strong reputation for design and delivery, the studio offers the opportunity to be involved in a range of ambitious residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes, contributing technical leadership from early design development through to construction.

Daily Duties

  • Develop detailed technical design information and packages from RIBA Stages 3 to 5
  • Lead coordination with consultants, engineers, and specialist contractors
  • Prepare and review construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Ensure compliance with current UK Building Regulations and best practices
  • Provide on-site support during construction phases, including site visits and contractor liaison
  • Resolve technical issues efficiently while maintaining design integrity
  • Oversee project documentation and ensure quality control procedures are met
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and mentoring of junior team members

Ideal Candidate

  • ARB-registered architect with substantial years post-Part 3 experience
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating technical design and delivery experience
  • Deep knowledge of UK construction methods, detailing, and regulations
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is essential; BIM coordination experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Passionate about technical excellence and problem-solving
  • Motivated, proactive, and capable of managing time and priorities effectively
