Job description

As a senior member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS team, to support the CAMH Service to provide high quality assessment of the mental health needs of children and young people. To manage and develop the stepped care CAMHS service for this age group.To manage CAMHS clinicians and provide supervision for team membersundertaking assessment and a range of interventions/managing caseloads.To develop and implement therapeutic plans of care for children and young people with mental health needs. Supporting the service to deliver training and Consultation to other children's agencies. To liaise with other agencies regarding the implementation of care plans and the management of risk for children and young people. To promote and support mental health awareness in agencies supporting children and young people in HMR

Main duties of the job

o To ensure high quality CAMHS clinical assessment of young peopleand their families referred to the Single Point of Entryo To manage and clinically supervise CAMHS practitioners in managingtheir own caseloadso To be responsible for and manage a (reduced) defined caseload (asagreed with Operational Manager) and undertake key-workerresponsibilities within the caseload, making autonomous decisionsconcerning service delivery, risk management, referrals to otheragencies and discharge.o To make independent clinical decisions about the appropriatetherapeutic interventions for each young person, in accordance with individual assessed need, and to provide or provide access to thisintervention, including those young people with learning difficulties

Job responsibilities

To work strategically with the Consultant Psychiatrist, CamhsCoordinator, the HMR Commissioners and other agencies in order todevelop the stepped care CAMHS service.. To be responsible for the implementation of the stepped care CAMHservice and Pennine Care NHS Trust and to meet standards andtargets developed for this service. To play a leading role with the strategic and operational direction of theservice within Pennine Care and the CAMHS Directorate via Clinicaland Social Care Governance Groups To manage CAMHS practitioners from a range of professionalbackgrounds within the service, to recruit and support new staff asappropriate and to implement HR processes and Pennine Careprocedures within the service. To clinically supervise the work of staff within the service. To keep the Operational Manager informed of developments andissues within the service.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Highly Developed Knowledge of mental health issues in young people
  • o Knowledge of relevant legislation and National Policies in relation to children and young people.
  • Highly developed knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group
  • Knowledge and experience of working with young people with learning disability
  • Evidence of Post qualifying training courses / certificates
Education/Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse - Mental Health with NMC registration/Social worker with SW registration
  • o Short courses and/or experience to post graduate diploma level
Knowledge
  • Substantial experience of working within a health delivered child and adolescent mental health outpatient / community service or of Adult Mental Health Services
  • Experience of the CPA model
  • Experience of clinically supervising the work of others.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to perform complex diagnostic assessments as an autonomous practitioner across a range of mental health conditions
  • Ability to develop packages of care based on assessed needs
  • Ability to develop a range of therapeutic activities across a range of settings.
  • Ability to identify and manage risk in individuals presenting with mental health needs
  • Ability to provide and receive complex sensitive or contentious information often within a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere.
  • Ability to act in consultation / supervision / training capacity with professionals.
  • Ability to develop liaison / links and familiarity with other professional networks
  • Ability to prioritise key tasks, and targets for intervention.
  • Ability to evaluate service initiatives for effectiveness / outcome.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team within and beyond organisational boundaries.
  • Ability to keep accurate activity data for audit / evaluation.
  • Ability to work strategically to develop the 16-17yr service.
  • Ability to develop and audit the effectiveness of protocols.
  • Ability to manage other staff to meet targets and objectives of the service
