A vacancy has arisen for a Trainee SHEQ Advisor to join our team. The Sustainability and Safety Graduate role exists to support the organisation's commitment to sustainability and safety by contributing to the development and implementation of environmental, social, governance (ESG), and health & safety initiatives. The post holder will work across departments to help embed sustainable practices and ensure compliance with safety standards. Reporting to the Head of Safety, the role offers exposure to strategic projects and operational activities, providing a strong foundation for career development in ESG and safety.

Responsibilities
Safety Support
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
  • Support the development and delivery of toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics across operational sites.
Sustainability Initiatives
  • Support delivery of sustainability and safety objectives across the business.
  • Support data collection and analysis for sustainability reporting (e.g., waste, energy, emissions).
  • Engage with site teams to promote sustainable practices and environmental awareness.
Compliance & Standards
  • Support compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation for regulatory compliance and internal audits.
  • Help develop and implement training and awareness campaigns.
Project Work
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects aimed at improving safety and sustainability outcomes.
  • Research and present innovative solutions to reduce environmental impact and enhance safety.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Passion for sustainability and safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to travel across UK sites.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks and health & safety legislation is desirable.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards – desirable.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH Certification – desirable.
