Supported Housing Officer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Supported Housing Officer to join a Housing Association in Essex, delivering a responsive, resident-focused service within a sheltered housing environment.

THE ROLE

As a Supported Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing a sheltered housing scheme, acting as the main point of contact for residents and ensuring their wellbeing, safety, and tenancy sustainment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of a sheltered housing scheme
  • Carrying out regular welfare checks and monitoring resident wellbeing
  • Supporting residents to sustain their tenancies, including advice and early intervention
  • Managing rent arrears, income collection, and tenancy-related queries
  • Conducting property inspections, health and safety checks, and monitoring communal areas
  • Maintaining accurate records, case notes, and housing management systems
  • Working in partnership with external agencies and organising resident activities to promote engagement and wellbeing
THE CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a supported housing, sheltered housing, social care, or social housing environment and be confident delivering a customer-focused service to residents with support needs. You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable, and professional manner
  • Clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to apply relevant housing legislation, policies, and best practice
  • Effective IT skills, including basic MS Office competency
  • Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2
  • A social care or similar qualification relevant to the customer group (desirable)
THE CONTRACT
  • WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
  • LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 3‑Month Contract, Temporary
  • RATE: The pay for the role is £20.00 per hour LTD company rate. The PAYE equivalent is £17.16 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay.
