VSA have an exciting opportunity available to join our team as a Support Worker within Bressay Brae Sheltered Housing, VSA at Home Service. This will be a part-time permanent position and in return, you will receive a competitive salary and benefits.

Hours: 21.75 hours per week

Rota/Working Pattern: Working 3 or 4 days over 7 days, including every second weekend working. The working hours are from 8am-4pm.

Salary: £12.81 per hour

Based in Sheddocksley, Bressay Brae Sheltered Housing, offers residents outstanding care by our dedicated team of Support Workers, and we are currently seeking to add to our team.

You will provide a professional, caring and effective service to those within our care. In return, you will be provided with extensive training opportunities and as an accredited SVQ centre, we can provide support to help gain qualifications. You will be joining a supportive team who are passionate about positively changing the lives of those within our care. Prior experience is welcome but consideration will also be given to those looking to join the social care sector, who posses our shared values of empathy and care for others. Purpose of Job:

To contribute to the provision of quality services to meet the needs of service users, according to agreed VSA standards, policies and regulatory requirements.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

Daily welfare check

Developing, reviewing & maintaining personalised housing support plans using an online care management system

Supporting good relationships with fellow tenants and neighbours

Supporting Tenants to arrange appointments with relevant professionals, Sign posting where appropriate

Encourage & support tenants to organise & attend social gatherings & activities

Supporting good relationships between landlords & tentants, supporting contact with landlord for repairs to property

Assisting with security of building while on shift, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed and reported as required & that all Health & Safety regulations are adhered to, including any risk assessments as required, fire safety checks, alarm & emergency call system testing

Responding in the event of an emergency whilst on shift

Provide up to date information & advice to tenants/carers in relation to applicable benefits & where necessary provide support to tenants with the completion of benefit applications

Undertake any other duties which may arise provided they are within the post-holders

Support & mentor new & relief staff

Developing one’s knowledge & practice through participation in training & development activities, in line with organisational policy & required SSSC registration
