Job description

We are looking for a calm, patient and understanding Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred support for Jack, an adult who has learning disabilities and is non-verbal and communicates through gestures, showing options, and guiding staff to what he wants.

This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and supporting someone to experience independence, choice and enjoyment every day.

Vacancy available :

  • Day shift : £12.40 per hour weekdays and £13.64 weekends.
  • Part time – 22.5 hours per week.
  • Currently offering + £2.50 for overtime shifts (over 37.5 hours).
  • Time and a half or double time for public holidays.
  • Sleep-ins are essential and are paid at £50 per night.
Your Responsibilities

You will support Jack with :

Personal Care
  • All aspects of personal care, such as showers and baths, pad changing and support with daily routines.
Independent Living
  • Managing finances and budgeting.
  • Encouraging choice and independence.
  • Keeping routines calm, predictable and respectful.
Community & Home Activities
Jack enjoys :
  • Going for drives in his car.
  • Trips to cafés, pub lunches and garden centres.
  • Getting out for walks and being outdoors.
  • Watching TV and listening to music at home.
  • Spending time with staff he trusts.

You’ll be supporting him to continue doing the things he loves, at his pace.

About Jack
  • Jack is Non-verbal and communicates through showing options and guiding staff, he likes a calm environments, being out and about, friendly interaction and routine. Jack doesn’t like to be kept waiting or busy / noisy environments.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is :
  • Calm, patient and understanding.
  • Able to work confidently on their own.
  • Reliable and consistent.
  • Able to use their own initiative as you will be lone working.
  • Comfortable delivering personal care.
  • A confident driver with a full UK manual licence.
Support Worker Hours

You will work a set pattern of morning and afternoon shifts. Shifts are 7.5 hours, and a full-time contract is 37.5 hours (5 shifts a week). The earliest start is from 7am and the latest finish is until 10pm.

Weekend working is essential, which will be on a rotating basis and when you work a weekend you will have the time off in the week.

Experience in support work is helpful but not essential if you bring the right attitude and willingness to learn.
