About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Female Support Worker to join our supported living service for female prison leavers. The service provides short‑stay, transitional accommodation for women who are rebuilding their lives following release from custody.

This is a rewarding role where you will support women to develop independence, stability, and confidence during a critical transition period.

This post is restricted to female applicants under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, due to the nature of the service and the needs of the women we support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical and emotional support to women in a short‑stay supported living environment
  • Build positive, professional relationships based on trust, respect, and boundaries
  • Support residents with resettlement goals, including housing, benefits, health, and daily living skills
  • Encourage engagement with probation, substance misuse services, mental health services, and other agencies
  • Promote independence, safety, and wellbeing within the service
  • Maintain accurate records, risk assessments, and support plans
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
  • Uphold safeguarding, equality, and trauma‑informed practices at all times
About You
  • Has experience working with vulnerable women, prison leavers, or in supported housing (desirable but not essential)
  • Is non‑judgemental, patient, and emotionally resilient
  • Understands the challenges faced by women leaving custody (e.g. trauma, abuse, substance use, mental health)
  • Can work confidently both independently and as part of a team
  • Has good communication and basic IT skills
  • Is willing to work shifts, including evenings/weekends if required
