Job Purpose and Impact
We currently have an exciting role for a Support Technician to join our production operations in Brocklebank. This role plays an important part in keeping both the Crush and Refinery areas running safely, efficiently and in line with our operational standards. The position suits someone who enjoys hands‑on work within an industrial environment, is comfortable supporting different parts of the operation and has a flexible mindset when it comes to covering shifts, absences and training needs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure daily running and management of Brocklebank Operation (Crush and Refinery) functions.
- Provide long‑term absence cover for Process areas.
- Provide cover for training to enable operators to be released.
- Ensure plant cleanliness and compliance with audit requirements are adhered to.
- Ensure the effective movement and handling of materials, products and chemicals across the Brocklebank operation.
- Support the manufacturing operations to achieve best‑in‑class operating performance from every perspective.
- Ensure safe working practices are adhered to by Cargill personnel and contractors.
- Undertake problem solving and decision making within a self‑managed, Continuous Improvement environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist Manufacturing coordinator in day‑to‑day operational and continuous improvement activities.
- Support Operations for cover during plant shut‑downs, and start‑ups, and long‑term absence cover. Availability for moving into shift role.
- Maintain housekeeping of the plant, including awareness of the Environmental Permit for the site and the operating conditions and limits within it; use SAP system to report and track any maintenance issues or safety issues found during the shift; comply with audit and safety requirements.
- Carry out any other duties as required by plant operations, including but not limited to first aid, shutdown support, audit preparedness, relieving operators for design review/training, etc.
- Be flexible to meet business needs, i.e. willing to work flexible shift patterns to provide cover where required for long‑term sickness and training.
Minimum Qualifications
- NVQ II in mechanical, chemical or process engineering and/or
- Experience of working within an industrial process environment and/or
- 5 GCSEs grade A–C (including English and Maths)
- Basic computer skills
- Effective communication skills – verbal and written
- Planning and organisational capability
- Analytical mind

- Good housekeeping abilities
- Ability to clean and organise industrial areas
- Ability to learn quickly
- Experience within an industrial environment
- Experience of working flexible shift patterns
Preferred Qualifications
- FLT licence
- Bobcat Licence
- First‑aid certificate
- Industrial process skills
- Awareness and/or use of continuous improvement tools like 5S/5Why/...
- Experience of working in a self‑managed team environment
- Knowledge of HACCP/Environmental Permits
