Job Title: Supply Chain Manager

The role

As a Supply Chain Manager, you\'ll have a role that\'s out of the ordinary. This role will be a part of Mission Systems\' Space Business Unit supporting the MOD\'s SkyNet - Satellite Communications System.

Day-to-day, you\'ll lead sourcing initiatives that support both current operations and business growth and manage large sub-contracts. This role is pivotal in shaping sourcing strategies, supporting customer-driven change proposals, and managing supplier relationships.

  • Develop and execute the Space Supply Chain sourcing strategy in line with the business units\' long-term goals and future capability requirements.
  • Support early procurement engagement during programme bids and mobilisation phases.
  • Lead procurement input and impact analysis for customer change requests and contract amendments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional assessments to evaluate cost, delivery, and commercial factors.
  • Negotiate and administer supplier contracts and ensure alignment with programme delivery.
  • Own end-to-end management of major subcontracts.
  • Ensure sourcing decisions comply with internal governance, policies, and delegated authorities.
  • Lead sourcing governance reviews and provide procurement updates to programme boards and senior stakeholders.

This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites on a monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Supply Chain Manager
  • Experience in developing and delivering large strategic sourcing activities that have delivered significant value for the customer and business.
  • Ability to demonstrate a curious and inventive mind set to create sourcing strategies.
  • Demonstrable experience in a procurement role ideally in a Defence or Engineering environment.
  • Experience in managing major subcontracts and suppliers.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial negotiation, contracts, and supplier performance management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and strategic sourcing tools.
Qualifications for the Supply Chain Manager
  • Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Law, or related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS is advantageous but not essential.
