Job description
Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineer (ME)

Reports to Manufacturing and Supply Chain Manager.

Key responsibilities include ensuring product designs are manufacturable, developing product supply chain and manufacturing processes, and performing new‑product and production support activities.

  • New Product Introduction – support designers with manufacturing knowledge for new designs, tolerancing, geometry, potential suppliers and costs, and manage programme timelines.
  • Sourcing & Supply Chain Design – technical sourcing of parts, assess supplier capability and capacity to produce at the required rate, and design supply chain as volume moves from low to high.
  • Capability Acquisition – understand design requirements for new manufacturing techniques, mature the technology, and manage cost and schedule.
  • Quality Planning – ensure Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles are in place.
  • Production Support – solve issues through to delivery of parts with conformance documentation.

Location: Derby. Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or suitable industry experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in manufacturing engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes from new products through to ongoing production.
  • Strong technical knowledge, including experience with turbomachinery manufacture and assembly.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive improvements and resolve manufacturing and product issues.
  • Experience overseeing the design and implementation of manufacturing systems, equipment, and facilities, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with proven ability to analyse complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Highly motivated, resilient, assertive, and process‑/data‑driven.
  • Effective communication skills and team‑player attitude.
  • A credible, trustworthy, and experienced manufacturing and engineering leader, self‑starter.
