We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join the Substance Misuse team at HMP Kirkham, a Category D open prison for males, located near Preston, Lancashire. HMP Kirkham offers stunning grounds, a brand‑new state‑of‑the‑art gym, and an environment where no two days are the same. This is a brand‑new role that you can truly make your own.

Hours: Part‑time, 22.5 hours per week. Shifts between 8 am–4 pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility to be discussed at screening and interview.

Salary: £25,557 – £29,723 per annum (FTE) depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a new Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Be the face of the team – act as the first point of contact for patients
  • Be visible on site, getting to know patients and identifying areas for improvement or issues
  • Assist with support groups and assessments – groups include psychosocial, CBT, art workshops and meditation
  • Data inputting – ensure that patient records are accurate and up to date
  • Work alongside the Nursing Associate and Patient Engagement Lead
