Job description

Goldsmiths, University of London is a world-leading centre of educational excellence where ground-breaking research meets innovative teaching and thinking. We're looking for inspiring and talented people to help build on our global reputation while also growing personally in a true learning organisation.

About the team

The Student Success department is at the beating heart of our strategy to ensure every single Goldsmiths student achieves their very best, working with colleagues and students across the entire student lifecycle to widen access, increase participation and engagement and improve outcomes. We also work in partnership with the Students’ Union (SU) to centre and amplify the student voice.

About the role

Student Engagement Coaches will lead the Student Success team’s work to identify and proactively support students who are most at risk of poor outcomes, with a focus on improving non-continuation. Using attendance and engagement data, you will design and deliver interventions to help these students navigate successful pathways to graduation, contributing to the delivery of an excellent student experience for all our students.

Interventions may include leading drop-in sessions and 1:1s, designing attendance improvement and study plans, delivering campaigns to raise awareness of the support available to students and working closely with international students to ensure they meet ongoing visa requirements. You will monitor the impact of these interventions, continuously developing your approach to improve attendance, engagement, continuation and success at Goldsmiths. This role is student-facing, and will be campus-based during term time, with some flexibility to work from home during vacations and other quiet periods.

About you

Student Engagement Coaches are outstanding communicators. You will be expected to be proactive, engaging, confident and empathetic in your approach to your work. No issue will be too large or too small for you to address. You will be key in identifying, reporting and addressing trends and indicators of poor attendance and early disengagement. Developing strong relationships with students and staff will be essential for success in this role.
