A healthcare provider in Dorset is seeking a Stroke Consultant Physician to provide essential stroke care and support transformative services. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care, participation in audits, and delivering education to medical personnel. Candidates can expect a generous Warm Welcome payment of £10,000, along with relocation expenses. This role allows for full-time or part-time work arrangements, promoting a flexible working environment. Join a team dedicated to high standards of patient care in a supportive setting.
The Trust sits at the heart of the community as the main provider of acute care to around 250,000 people in the west of Dorset. Our main site is in the county town of Dorchester, near the world‑famous Jurassic Coast and other areas of outstanding natural beauty.
We are expanding our team to appoint an additional Stroke Consultant. This new role supports the development of Hyper Acute Stroke Care and the expansion of the Stroke Team at Dorset County Hospital as we move to a shared care model for Stroke Patients between Dorset and Somerset. The stroke department currently provides a seven‑day service for circa 570 stroke patients admitted annually from West Dorset and will expand to over 800 following our partnership with the Somerset Health Care System.
The Stroke Unit is currently being refurbished and will reopen as a 30‑bed hyper‑acute unit. Dorset County Hospital has close ties with a fourteen‑bed stroke and neuro rehabilitation facility at the Yeatman Community Hospital in North Dorset, led by a Consultant AHP to whom we provide clinical advice and support.
Applications are invited for the position of Stroke Consultant Physician based at Dorset County Hospital. We are seeking a new stroke physician to provide day‑to‑day stroke care and support the continued transformation of stroke services in line with our strategy and recent business case approval.
We are looking for 1 WTE (10 sessions per week) and 0.5 WTE (5 sessions per week). The right candidate seeking less‑than‑full‑time working or asymmetrical job plans will be welcomed to apply.
The role is eligible to receive a Warm Welcome payment of £10,000, plus usual relocation expenses.
