Job description

United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme
Full-time | Race strategy leadership | Global travel

If you’re the kind of strategist who can think four stints ahead, keep total clarity under chaos, and make brave, data-driven decisions — this is your chance to shape race outcomes at the highest level.

About the Role

As our Strategist, you’ll take responsibility for tactical decision‑making across test and race events. You’ll own stint modelling, tyre life forecasts, fuel windows, optimisation tools, traffic simulations, and real‑time race strategy execution.

You will be the person the Race Engineer relies on when split‑second decisions determine the outcome.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Building tyre, fuel and stint models ahead of each track event.
  • Running live strategy tools, simulations and predictive models during sessions.
  • Managing traffic impact, FCY/Safety Car responses, undercut/overcut decisions and live race pivots.
  • Working with Performance, Race Engineering and Tyre Techs to build full‑picture strategy clarity.
  • Preparing strategy briefings, driver guides and run‑scenario planning.
  • Analysing competitor behaviour, long‑run pace, pit windows and threats.
  • Making robust, confident calls under pressure — even with incomplete information.
  • Delivering structured strategy reports post‑event.
What You’ll Bring
  • Strategy experience from WEC, ELMS, IMSA, F1, FE or equivalent data‑driven motorsport categories.
  • Strong maths and modelling capability, ideally with Python/MATLAB experience.
  • Calmness under extreme pressure — the ability to think clearly while everyone else is stressed.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate decisions concisely and confidently.
  • A mindset that is analytical, competitive and relentlessly detail‑driven.

Strategy wins races — if that excites you, this is your role.
